Welcome to the homepage of the Advisory Committee on the Promotion of the Fighting Spirit against SARS.

In the fight against SARS, our community have demonstrated the noble side of their characters and their care for fellow beings. We should be proud in particular of the professionalism and selfless sacrifice of our frontline medical workers, the initiation and care by the community in organising fund raising campaigns, the commitment to a higher level of public hygiene of our citizens, and their resilience and sensibility in face of difficulties. Not only have these unique qualities alleviated our anxiety, they also helped check the spread of SARS in a short time. We should, therefore, search for the most appropriate ways and means to record the events and promote the wonderful values displayed by the entire community.

The Advisory Committee on the Promotion of the Fighting Spirit against SARS, widely represented by different sectors of the community, has been established for the purpose. The Committee is to identify the community's values and spirit made explicit in the fight against SARS and to explore the formats or arrangements to commemorate and perpetuate these precious values.

As SARS has affected the life of every one of us, any activity promoting the spirit in the fight against SARS should reflect the common wish of all citizens in Hong Kong. We will widely consult the public and gather views from all walks of life. We will ensure that the activities to be staged in future have your approval and support. We urge all of you to give us your views in the consultation period, so that the activities will represent the collective memories of us all.
